Six of Crows Book Review

Fantasy has become one of my favorite genres recently for so many reasons. I love the ability to escape this world, and dive into a new one, with new rules, new troubles, and new people. I love the ability to study our world through the lens of the fantasy one, how I can compare and contrast and see how the writer was inspired. I love fantasy, and one of the reasons I do is because of Leigh Bardugo's Six of Crows . Featuring a ragtag yet lovable group of six, an impossible job, an insane amount of money, and revenge of all sorts, Six of Crows  is the perfect read for anyone. It's the book that readers deserve. It's a book that's constantly clever and will surprise you at every turn of the page. If you pick up this book and enter the Grishaverse, you will not be sorry.  Leigh Bardugo is a #1 New York Times Bestselling author of fantasy novels, her most notable being those involved with the Grishaverse. Fangirl, Vol. 1 Book Review

Everyone who knows me knows that Fangirl  is my favorite novel of all time. So when I heard about Fangirl, Vol 1: The Manga , I was beyond excited to finally see it in person. Sometimes, the only thing to get me through the week was knowing that in just a couple more days, I'd finally get to see this beautiful book in person. Fangirl is about so many things for me: writing, finding yourself, courage, speaking up for yourself, passion, and so much more. I was beyond pleased to see that Fangirl, Vol 1: The Manga just got  all of that, right off the bat. An absolutely stunning and faithful adaptation of the first part of the original novel, Fangirl, Vol 1: The Manga  was a delightful read that had me falling in love with Fangirl all over again.  Rainbow Rowell writes all kinds of stuff. Sometimes she writes about adults ( Attachments  and  Landline ). Sometimes she writes about teenagers ( Eleanor & Park, Fangirl ). Sometimes -- actually, a lot of the time -- she writes about love

The Great Gatsby: The Graphic Novel Book Review

Sometimes it's not enough for our favorite stories to only exist in black text on a white page. Maybe that's why we take to the big screens, and try to adapt them for movies or television. I can tell you now, after reading The Great Gatsby: The Graphic Novel that that is the wrong route. This stunning and faithful graphic novel adaptation of the beloved text is absolutely life-changing. Aya Morton and Fred Fordham brought Fitzgerald's text and characters to life within the pages of this novel. Each scene and moment was painstakingly rendered into beautiful images with perfectly concise text additions. If you are an avid fan of Fitzgerald's best known work, or picking up this lovely and heartbreaking story for the first time, I can assure you that you will absolutely fall in love with The Great Gatsby (all over again!).   F. Scott Fitzgerald published his first novel, This Side of Paradise , in 1920. That same year he married Zelda Sayre, and for the next decade the co

Best Charles Dickens Quotes from Selected Works with Chapter Numbers

Charles Dickens (1812-1870) was born in Portsmouth, England, and sent to work in a shoeblacking factory at the age of twelve when his father was thrown into debtor's prison. This emotionally devastating experience inspired Dickens's lifelong sympathy for the poor and the working class. He began publishing fiction in 1834, and the serialization of his work in periodicals became so popular that by the time his novel Oliver Twist was published in 1838, he was a bestselling writer. Over the next thirty years he produced a wide variety of stories, sketches, and travel writings. Through the publication of A Christmas Carol (1843), David Copperfield (1850), A Tale of Two Cities (1859), Great Expectations (1861), and other works, Dickens became known for his portraits of everyday Victorian people, his compassion for the underclass, and his dedication to using fiction as a tool for social reform.
