Rule of Wolves Book Review

Wars are hard and brutal, much like endings. Both are explosive, stunning, and can render people speechless. Leigh Bardugo had an incredible task: pen (quite possibly) the last book in the Grishaverse universe, where the characters are all on the brink of a war, and give it a satisfying enough ending for a huge following of fans. And I am here to tell you that she succeeded. But even more than that, Bardugo crafts a book that shines so bright, that even after you read about all the death and grief and shock, you will undoubtedly be hopeful about the future your favorite characters. Don't get me wrong: this book is full of jaw-dropping moments, parts where you hold your breath in fear, and even seconds where you want to toss the book aside and hide under a blanket. But once you reach that ending (that ending!) you'll know it was all worth it and be reaching for more.  Leigh Bardugo is the New York Times bestselling author of Ninth House  and the creator of the Grishaverse (comi

Chain of Iron Book Review

Secrets are, in fact, the biggest hidden character in Cassandra Clare's dramatic and breathtaking newest release, Chain of Iron . The spellbinding sequel to  Chain of Gold , Chain of Iron  dives even deeper into the implications of secret keeping, and how the actions of those closest to you are indeed the actions that cut closest to the bone. Between a "whodunit" murder plot, the passionate uncovering of feelings, and a buildup to a dramatic conclusion in a final third book, Chain of Iron does absolutely everything a second book in a trilogy needs to do. Clare's growth as a storyteller shines brightly in Chain of Iron , making this her best book yet. Don't wait to pick this one up, as it absolutely does not disappoint, and only leaves you gasping for more of Clare's unforgettable characters and extraordinary plots.  Cassandra Clare is the #1 New York Times and USA Today  bestselling author of Chain of Gold  as well as the internationally bestselling Dark Artif

The Mothers Book Review

You will never get the privilege to truly know another person. Oftentimes, the privilege of truly knowing yourself takes years and years of patience and practice. But if all of this is true, then what does it mean to be a good friend, or a good significant other, or a good parent? How will the choices we make affect the people we love the most, and the people who love us the most, if we can never truly understand those people or our choices? All of this and more is what Brit Bennett tackles in her stunning and breath-taking debut, The Mothers . A story that hurtles through time and brings necessary conversations to light, The Mothers is a book that examines motherhood, community, and the power of choices to change entire  narratives. Brit Bennett was born and raised in Southern California, graduated from Stanford University, and earned her MFA in fiction at the University of Michigan, where she won a Hopwood Award in Graduate Short Fiction as well as the 2014 Hurston/Wright Award for C
