We Free the Stars Book Review

Life doesn't go back to normal after war, or after a life-changing journey. Especially not when there's still more work to be done. The fractured zumra get back from Sharr, realizing their work isn't done and, in fact, the journey ahead is going to be more challenging than anything they faced on the island. In this stunning and jaw-dropping finale, Faizal crafts a story with the perfect balance between internal identity-related conflicts and external conflicts. With plot twists that thrill and tender moments of growth, Zafira's, Nasir's, Kifah's and Altair's endings are perfect and fulfilling for readers who fell in love with them in We Hunt the Flame . This duology was beyond moving and meaningful, and redefines the types of antagonists and protagonists that need to be in the young adult fantasy genre.  Hafsah Faizal is the New York Times  bestselling author of We Hunt the Flame and the founder of IceyDesigns, where she creates websites for authors and bea...

We Hunt the Flame Book Review

Given the chance to reclaim magic for the kingdom of Arawiya, Zafira hardly hesitates before taking the journey of a lifetime. From Hafsah Faizal comes a Middle Eastern inspired fantasy that is sure to inspire, absolutely shock, and completely delight. An adventure that is focused as much on an ancient object as it is on the identity of its main characters, We Hunt the Flame artfully examines trauma, grief, and history, especially when what you've been told all your life isn't the truth you thought it was. For fans of adventure-based fantasy, your newest read has arrived, and I can't recommend it highly enough!  Hafsah Faizal is an American Muslim and brand designer. She's the founder of IceyDesigns, where she creates websites for authors and beauteous goodies for everyone else. When she's not writing, she can be found dreaming up her next design, deciding between Assassin's Creed and Skyrim , or traversing the world. Born in Florida and raised in California, sh...

Leigh Bardugo's debut novel Shadow and Bone  has been making waves since the second it hit shelves in 2012. Shadow and Bone is the first in a trilogy—but that's not all. No, Bardugo created a whole universe in which two other duologies plus two spinoff companion novels exist. Fans of this universe—the Grishaverse—have waited patiently, hoping that this world would be the next for an adaptation. In January 2019, the show—which combined storylines and characters of Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows —was given the go-ahead by Netflix, with a late 2020 release date. Not unlike everything else in this world, the show was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But, finally, after years of waiting, the eight-episode adaptation has released on Netflix on April 23rd, 2021. But, what's the verdict? How true does the show stay to the heart of the series? And, the fated question, are the books better than the TV show?  Leigh Bardugo is the New York Times bestselling author of Ninth Hou...
